Immunoglobulin G antibodies are glycoproteins that make up the majority of human serum antibodies and play a major role in the humoral immune response. IgG antibodies are the most prevalent of the five human classes and can further be divided into four subclasses IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4. Antibodies are comprised of a variable region and a constant region that shares more than 90% sequence homology between these different subclasses. Despite these similarities each IgG subclass have distinct structural features and roles in immune response.
